Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line update drops Airmatic suspension, RM2k cheaper

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has updated the specifications to the Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line, which sees the Airmatic suspension from the outgoing model being replaced by the Sports suspension, as seen on the recently-updated C 200 AMG Line.

The change has also resulted in a drop in price – the Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line is now priced at RM291,800.34, which is RM2,000 lower than before. The new price will be in effect until the 31st of December 2020, in line with the sales tax exemptions which are set to expire at the end of the year.

Airmatic is Mercedes-Benz’s name for its air suspension set-up. The adaptive suspension set-up uses rubber and polyurethane airbags to alter the ride quality and damping properties of the car, based on the driving modes. The Sports suspension meanwhile uses regular coil springs and dampers, which means the updated Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line effectively loses its adaptive suspension system.

Aside from the suspension swap, the updated Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line is also now equipped with the Mercedes me communications module, which allows for remote features including remote engine start, and checking your remaining fuel through the accompanying mobile application.

However, the 10.25-inch infotainment display on the C 300 is still running the brand’s older Audio 20 GPS software, instead of the latest MBUX system – although Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and live traffic information is standard. The update also includes the addition of a new wireless mobile phone charging pad.

Aside from these changes, the updated Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line remains identical to the outgoing model, including all the AMG Line visual treatments, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as the active safety features such as Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, parking assist, as well as autonomous emergency braking.

The powertrain found underneath the hood also remains the same, which is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mill, making 258 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission.

With Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Malaysia’s Agility Financing plan, the updated C 300 AMG Line can be yours starting from RM2,918 per month, based on a three-year tenure period, at 20,000 km mileage per year.
