World leaders and their cars: How much do they cost?

Unless you’re the king of Thailand, the life of a royalty, Prime Minister or President can be a ball when they’re not cracking their heads over political or social affairs. Clad with the finest clothes, fed with the most decadent meals, even their cars are extra special due to their extra special circumstance.

Regardless of their make, they’re often fitted and equipped with the best defense systems you never thought a car could accommodate – ensuring that it’s resistant to gunfire, bomb blasts, or any other threats imaginable on a head of state.

Above is a Top 10 list of the most expensive cars used by leaders around the globe compiled by MotorEasy. The purpose was to show the disparity between the value of these leader’s vehicles and the value of the best-selling cars in their respective countries.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II

As you can tell, the monarch spares no expense when it comes to protecting Queen Elizabeth II and her precious little corgis. Her specially commissioned Bentley is valued at over 10 million pounds yet she has not one but two!

DONALD TRUMP

The Beast as it is known is lined with 5-inches of military-grade armour, electrified doors, and even a stockpile of the President’s blood type! There’s no need to elaborate on why the man with the tan needs so much protection but with that level of defense, you can rest assured those gold locks will remain intact as well.

KIM JONG-UN

It speaks volumes of the car when a dictator known for his taste for the finer things in life, such as expensive cheese and wine, opts for a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, more specifically, a Mercedes-Maybach S600 as his vehicle of choice. It’s not like he’ll fit in something smaller anyway.

VLADIMIR PUTIN

With almost everything and everyone beneath his feet, nothing is unattainable for the former KGB officer. He could’ve opted for a Mercedes-Benz, a Rolls-Royce, or even on a cart strapped to a couple of grizzly bears but no, the President of Russia is a man of very distinct taste as his art collection and hobbies have uncovered. Enter the Aurus Senat limousine – it doesn’t cost as much as Trump or Kim’s ride, but apparently, it took 146 million pounds to develop!

The same patriotism is displayed by Putin’s neighbour and yet another iron-fist ruler, Xi Jinping of China whose vehicle of choice is none other than the Hongqi L5, China’s idea of a luxury automobile.

On the other end of the spectrum, Jose Mujica who was once known to be the most modest (and to an extent also the poorest) President in the world, only owned a Volkswagen Beetle when he was in power. He also preferred to reside in his personal residences instead of the presidential palace. We need more of such people; not just to lead our world, but in general.
