Quirky or ugly, however you see it, these Porsche prototypes paved the way for those that made it to production and saw the light of day.

With most of us being unaware of their vague existence, Porsche’s new Top 5 series sheds light on what could’ve been.

Judging from their designs and proportions, we’re really glad they weren’t put into production but were instead used to spawn much better looking machines.

Whether it’s the Porsche Boxster, the Cayenne or even the hybrid powerhouse, the 918 Spyder, check out the “initial designs” Porsche had in mind for them here. We’re just very grateful that Porsche decided against the idea of a convertible Cayenne.
