BMW gives the X5 M and X6 M an aesthetics boost with First Edition models

BMW has given the X5 M Competition and the X6 M Competition a visual boost with First Edition models a year after the pair was unveiled. There will be no performance upgrades to expect here; it’s all surface and aesthetics. Only 250 units of each model will be made and they’ll come from BMW’s plant in the US.

Under the hood, you still get a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 paired to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, producing a staggering 625 hp and 750 Nm to drive all four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel drive system. The performance stats are equally impressive with 0 to 100 km/h done in just 3.8 seconds, while top speed will nudge 290 km/h if you opt for the M Driver’s Package.

As for the exterior, the First Edition models are available in BMW Individual’s Frozen Dark Silver like on the X6 M Competition or the Frozen Marina Bay Blue like on the X5 M Competition. The matte paint jobs are complemented with M light-alloy wheels in Jet black.

A staggered wheel setup means both the X5 and X6 M Competition come with mixed wheel sizes; a 21-inch pair in the front and 22-inch at the rear. The First Editions are finished with an M Carbon rear spoiler, M Carbon engine compartment cover, and M Carbon exterior mirror caps.

Inside, while they may look identical, the devil is in the details. Both the First Editions will be upholstered with BMW Individual’s Merino leather trim with contrasting Silverstone and Midnight Blue colour schemes. The hip section of the seats are upholstered in Alcantara material while orange contrast stitching helps make the seats pop!
