BMW Individual has created a special edition 8 Series line up called the Golden Thunder. It’s available for all the variants of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe, 8 Series Convertible and the 8 Series Gran Coupé. This includes the 840i, 840d xDrive and the M850i xDrive.
The special edition BMW 8 Series comes in either Sapphire Black metallic or Frozen Black Metallic paint jobs and are complemented with black brake calipers. As for what makes it the Golden Thunder, you get a gold strip across the side of the car, gold mirror caps, 20-inch rims finished in gold. In the 8 Series Gran Coupe, the Golden Thunder comes with an M rear spoiler.
Inside the Golden Thunder isn’t as striking with the front head rests embroidered with the words “Edition Golden Thunder”, Alcantara roof liner and a gold centre console with a mesh effect. The special edition models are also finished with an emblem and feature CraftedClarity glass applications for selected controls and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.
On that note, BMW Malaysia recently introduced the BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport priced at RM968,800. BMW Malaysia later on revised the price to RM937,411 due to the Sales Tax Exemption implemented recently on 15th of June till 31st December 2020.
A 3.0-litre straight six engine making 340 hp and 500 Nm powers the 840i Gran Coupe, good enough to get it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
