BMW Malaysia has followed up with the launch of the 850i xDrive Coupe last year, with the introduction of the new 840i Gran Coupe M Sport, priced at RM968,800 on-the-road without insurance.
For starters, the Gran Coupe is accompanied with the M Sport Package and M Aerodynamics Package which not only means more aggressive styling at the front along with a rear diffuser but a completely sealed underbody, active kidney grille slats and more. Complementing the raw stance of the 840i are 20-inch light alloy style 728 wheels with run-flat tyres.
Not like you’d have much time to admire it on the road because this thing is fast. It’s got a 3.0-litre straight six engine making 340 hp and 500 Nm, good enough to get it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
The engine is paired to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a sports exhaust to fuel the exhilaration between gear changes. The 840i Gran Coupe also gets the coveted items by the enthusiastic driver – the M Sport Differential for better traction and adaptive suspension for versatility in different driving conditions.
Getting in and allowing the soft-close doors and panoramic roof to gently ease you into the warm cabin, it first greets you with an M Sport steering wheel, headlining and leather upholstery from the BMW Individual catalogue and gloss metallic wood trims. Up ahead is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with customisable displays and a 10.2-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay projected on BMW’s latest interface.
The equipment list may require toilet rolls to list down but among the notable ones are ventilated front seats, Gesture Control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a head up display and surround view monitor. Further at the back, boot space is rated at 440-litres.
The near-million Ringgit 840i Gran Coupe isn’t short on safety equipment and driver aids either. Among them are Active Cruise Control, Lane Control Assistant, Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, autonomous emergency braking and the Parking Assistant Plus feature.
The 840i Gran Coupé M Sport is available in Barcelona Blue, Sonic Speed Blue, Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, Mineral White and Sunset Orange. They can be paired in different shades of leather from the BMW Individual catalogue such as Black, Night Blue, Cognac, Tartufo and Fiona Red.
The 840i Gran Coupe comes with a 5-year Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Service. With the Balloon Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, owning the 840i Gran Coupe costs RM11,058.00 a month, based on estimates of an 80% loan on a five-year tenure.
