Join the dark side – MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition now available in Malaysia



Blacked-out cars are all the rage these days, especially in the younger car-buying crowd. Joining in the the trend, MINI Malaysia has just released their own version of an all-black car, the MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition.

Just how black is it? For starters, the MINI Countryman Blackheath is only available in Midnight Black. The headlight and taillight trim, front grille, door handles, front and rear emblem, as well as the Countryman tailgate badge are all finished in black too, as part of the Piano Black Original MINI Accessories, exclusive to the Blackheath edition.

The newly designed LED fog lights and aerodynamic mirror cap are taken from the recently-updated JCW Countryman, while a matte brushed aluminium bonnet stripe and 19-inch John Cooper Works Circuit Spoke wheels finish the ominous exterior looks.

The ominous theme continues inside, emphasised by the Anthracite headliner, and Leather Cross Punch sports seats in Carbon Black. Although, the Piano Black MINI Yours Illuminated Interior Trim does allow for some colour to splash through the full-black theme.

Taking centrestage on the dashboard is the larger 8.8-inch infotainment display, with support for Apple CarPlay. The Countryman Blackheath Edition also comes with built-in with 4G connectivity, which supports features such as Intelligent Emergency Call, Mini TeleServices and Concierge Service, as well as connectivity with the MINI Remote mobile app.

The infotainment system is paired to a 12 high-performance-speaker set up from Harman Kardon, with a Class-D DSP Amplifier with a 360-watt output.

The Blackheath Edition uses the Cooper S specification as base, which takes on 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, capable of producing 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch sports transmission.

The new gearbox (instead of the eight-speed automatic) features a coasting function in the MID and GREEN driving modes, which automatically disengages the drivetrain as soon as the driver removes their foot from the accelerator pedal.

Performance wise, the MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition achieves the century sprint in 7.5 seconds, with a claimed Vmax of 225 km/h. Claimed fuel consumption figure is 6.6 l/100km.

Only 48 units of this all black MINI Countryman will be available, priced at RM253,888 – on the road, without insurance, and inclusive of the EEV excise duty reduction (RM17,571). The MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition comes with four-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service, along with five-year roadside assistance.
