Valtteri Bottas is ready for the 2020 Formula 1 season with a brand-new beard

Many people associate Mercedes-AMG F1 driver Valtteri Bottas’ boost in success in the 2019 season to his beard. The sharp upturn over the winter has also earned him the nickname “Bottas 2.0” during the season.

However, as well as his season started, bad luck and mistakes caused the Finnish racer’s Championship Title chances to slowly fade away. Still, he finished second in the season with 326 points, his most successful season to date with four wins.

Determined to put up the fight to teammate Lewis Hamilton, who will be challenging for his seventh Formula 1 Championship Title this year, Bottas had to go with something a little more extreme this winter break.

‘Introducing Valtteri Bottas 3.0’, according to a YouTube video posted by Mercedes-AMG F1. Sporting a beard almost as long as his entire body, the video shows Valtteri Bottas going about his day with his latest facial feature, including eating his “breakfast for champions”, porridge (oats).

Will the longer facial hair help Valtteri Bottas clinch his first ever Formula 1 World Championship title? Or will it add too much weight to the car and unsettle the balance? We’ll have to wait and find out.

Fortunately (or unfortunately for some), the team has came clean on Twitter, and admitted that it’s all just for a laugh, probably to generate some hype before the unveiling of the team’s new car tomorrow. Either that, or the PR intern had a little too much free time during the winter break.
