Porsche unveils the 911 Belgian Legend Edition in honour of racing hero

More than a year after its launch, Porsche has finally released the first special edition for the 992-generation Porsche 911 – the Belgian Legend Edition.

The Belgian legend refers to Jacques Bernard Ickx, or Jacky Ickx for short. Often regarded as one of the most successful drivers ever to race, Ickx has found success in multiple racing disciplines including Formula 1, Le Mans, and even Dakar Rally.

Honouring Jacky Ickx’s illustrious career and his contribution to Porsche’s sporting success, Porsche has gifted Ickx (who just turned 75 at the turn of the decade) a heck of a birthday present – his own limited-edition Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.

The idea for this special edition came from Belgian Porsche Importer “D’ieteren” after the launch of the 992-generation Porsche 911 in 2018. D’ieteren also played a role in designing the special edition, working in conjunction with Style Porsche and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

The Belgian Legend Edition is inspired by Ickx’s trademark blue and white helmet, and thus carry the bespoke “X Blue” exterior colour scheme – making it the first 992 to receive the Porsche Paint to Sample paint job.

The special colour scheme also makes its way to the Carrera Classic wheels, in 20/21-inch front/rear sizes. The blue wheels are offset by white laser-engraved details, in reference to the white outline around the visor on Ickx’s helmet.

Other exterior features include a badge on the driver-side B-pillar showing the Belgian flag, alongside Jacky Ickx’s signature.

The cabin of the Belgian Legend edition is trimmed in black leather, paired with Pebble Grey hand-stitched cross stitching across the dashboard, door panel, and rear trim.

The seats also feature the Pebble Grey piping, with “911” lettering on the headrests – something that is not available in the regular Carrera 4S – along with leather-finished seat backs.

Rounding up the interior features is Jacky Ickx’s autograph, debossed in the leather central armrest, as well as a “Belgian Legend Edition” carbon door sill guards.

The Belgian Legend Edition even comes with its own colour-matched key fob, featuring Ickx’s signature as well. Unfortunately if you’re not in Belgium, chances are you won’t get your hands on one – especially when there’s only going to be only 75 units ever to be made.
