Ford is making owners of its Mustang Shelby GT500 take driving lessons

Cause it would be embarrassing to power out of a junction and end up wrapping the Shelby GT500 around a lamp post – we’ve seen one too many videos of those.

Certainly, Ford wouldn’t want to see their unicorns destroyed either so they’ve teamed up with Ford Performance Racing School to offer complimentary driver training lessons through a programme called GT500 Track Attack.

The training which will take place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, USA, teaches owners how to tackle corners, brake and launch the GT500 properly.

“With its supercar-level powertrain, the all-new Shelby GT500 takes Mustang to a performance level once reserved only for exotics. The GT500 Track Attack is absolutely essential in helping owners understand how to get the most out of their cars,” Ford said.

Ford will cover costs of the driving school entirely, while owners will be responsible for their travel and lodging.

The GT500, as Ford claimed, has been fitted with the world’s most powerful V8 engine; making it the most powerful street legal Mustang ever. Under the hood is a handbuilt 5.2-litre supercharged V8 making 760 hp and 847 Nm of torque.
