It won’t be anytime soon before the BMW i4 is ready for the public’s eye but the details BMW have shared should be sufficient to whet your appetites for the inevitable electric future.
Based on the next generation BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, the i4 is set to be capable of 500 hp from a single motor placed at the back.
And the claimed performance is simply staggering – 0 to 100 km/h is done in around four seconds with top speed well in excess of 200 km/h.
Positioned flat under the floor, the 80 kWh battery is capable of offering up to 600 km of electric driving range and can be 80% charged in just 35 minutes.
BMW says the modular powertrain can be applied in various models including all-wheel drive and plug-in hybrids.
