The only MINI with six doors – the Clubman – is now in Malaysia with interior, exterior and even powertrain upgrades.
Priced at RM298,888, the new Clubman can be had from RM 3,418 a month based on estimates of 80% loan on a 5-year tenure through the Balloon Financing from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia.
Perhaps the most catchy offering in the Clubman is the new Indian Summer Red exterior paint job – a move away from the darker, more subdued tones from before.
Other exterior colour offerings include a new British Racing Green, Pepper White, Thunder Grey, Melting Silver and Starlight Blue.
The new Clubman comes with a redesigned radiator grille which now extends across the front bumper, new LED headlights, Union Jack-styled tail lights and 18-inch alloy wheels.
True to the funky nature of a MINI, the white headlight rings not only serve as Daytime Running Lights but also turn indicators. Being a Clubman, it was never going to struggle with space – capable of offering from 360-litres up to 1,250-litres of boot space.
Under the hood is a powerful 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine with 192 hp and 280 Nm that’s good for a 7.2 second time to 100 km/h from standstill and a top speed of 228 km/h while returning a claimed 6.2 L/100km fuel consumption rating.
The engine is paired with a new 7-speed Dual Clutch Sports Automatic Transmission that provides fast gear changes and can be operated via a newly designed electronic selector lever which returns to its original position after changing between driving mode, neutral position and reverse mode.
Prominent interior deco includes a Walknappa leather steering wheel and seat upholstery with Union Jack motifs on the headrest. The vibrant mood is also enhanced by Frozen Blue illuminations for the door bezel, cockpit bezel and centre console.
As for tech, the Clubman’s young and hip owners will not be shortchanged of entertainment and conveniences with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Apple CarPlay, built-in 4G sim technology,
The current update of the MINI Connected app now enables sending of navigational information from smartphone to vehicle and receiving departure information as well as the MINI Remote Services – which displays vehicle location, fuel level and other vehicle status details on their mobile devices.
The function also allows quick activation of the headlight flash, horn, ventilation and door lock/unlock function.
