Proton delivered 8,934 units in September, YTD surpasses overall sales for 2018

Proton has announced their sales performance figures for the month of September, which saw the national carmaker achieving a total of 8,934 units registered last month.

Proton says that this represents a growth of 97% over the same period last year, with an estimated 20.2% gain in market share this month – the highest in 66 months. The latest sales figures, which takes into account export sales, have helped Proton achieve an estimated year-to-date market share of 15.8%.

Part of Proton’s success is due to the reception of the Proton Saga, which saw 3,994 units delivered last month alone – the highest monthly deliveries of any Proton model.

With over 20,000 booked since launch, the Proton Saga has reclaimed the best-selling A-segment sedan in Malaysia title after a 3-year hiatus.

With September’s sales figure, Proton has delivered 70,330 units so far this year, overtaking their total overall sales of the previous year – which saw 64,744 units registered – in just 9 months.

Proton’s new corporate image provides a new experience in their showroom.

Proton however has said that opening of new 3S and 4S outlets as well as improving Sales Service Index (SSI) and Customer Service Index (CSI) scores remain a priority for the company. As of the end of last month, Proton has 104 certified 3S and 4S outlets in Malaysia.

Proton Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Li Chunrong said, “As we continue to evolve as a brand, it’s vital that the service delivered at our outlets and dealerships evolves in tandem as the point of contact for our customers are the frontline staff. Therefore, an improvement to our SSI and CSI scores is a priority for everyone at the company as a means to maintain and even improve our sales growth momentum in the future.”
