It’s the Ford Mustang and there could be no greater gift to celebrate the Mustang’s 55th anniversary today as the world’s best-selling sports coupe of 2018 with a total of 113,066 units sold last year, according to data by IHS Markit.
What’s even more impressive is that this marks the 4th consecutive year the Mustang has claimed this title and it’s a sign of even better things to come as sales in Europe are up by more than 27% so far this year.
2,323 units of the Mustang were sold in the UK alone last year – a 5% increase from 2017 – while in Europe, Ford moved over 2,300 units in Q1 of 2019 alone. That’s nearly twice the amount of cars Volvo Malaysia sold in the whole of last year!
Unsurprisingly, the Mustang was also the best-selling sports coupe in the United States where over 75,842 units were sold last year.
The Mustang was sold in more than 146 countries (out of 195 countries in the world) last year and over 500,000 units of the 6th generation Mustang have found new homes since its introduction in 2015.
