Bentley presents the most powerful, performance-oriented Bentayga

Bentley Motors has just revealed the Bentagya Speed; the most powerful and performance-oriented Bentayga to date.

It’s also dubbed the world’s fastest production SUV with 635 hp from its 6.0-litre W12 engine.

The W12 Bentayga we tested last year.

Not sure what they’re on about because its still slower from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds compared to the Lamborghini Urus which accomplishes the same in just 3.6 seconds.

In terms of top speed, it’s only 1 km/h quicker than the Urus (on paper) at 306 km/h.

Compared to the one we tested last year, the Bentayga Speed gets a 27 hp increase, with similar torque figures at 900 Nm. As a result, it is 0.2 seconds faster than the outgoing W12 model.

Specific to the Speed model, the Sport Mode has been recalibrated for even better response from the W12 engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox.

This complements the more throaty exhaust notes and firmer suspension tune.

On the outside, the Bentayga is vilified with dark-tint headlights, body-coloured front and rear splitters, body-coloured side skirts and a rear spoiler.

Adding even more aggression to the Bentayga’s extravagant design are dark-tint radiator and bumper grilles, unique thousand-spoke 22-inch wheels and Speed signature badging.

The Bentayga Speed’s ceramic brakes are the largest and most powerful fitted to a Bentley; capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1,000 °C with immense braking force. They are also lighter by 20 kg over iron brakes.

Compared to the standard Bentayga, the cabin of the Speed edition gets contrast stitching on the diamond quilting, Speed embroidery on the backrests, Speed treadplate and Alcantara materials – the latter finding its way into a Bentayga for the first time.
