Faster & more furious: Aston Martin Valkyrie gets Track Pack option

The 1000hp V12-powered Aston Martin Valkyrie has come a long way since it was unveiled back in 2016. The Adrian Newey designed hypercar is expected to hit the roads for testing in the middle of this year and then be homologated in time for deliveries to customers before 2019 is out.

Production volume of the road car is planned at 150 units (all spoken for), with an additional 25 units of the track-only AMR Pro to come later. The 150 customers of the hypercar can now begin to customise their rides with a bewildering array of options, including fitting an AMR Track Performance Pack that’s supposed to yield 8% quicker lap times.

The AMR Track Performance Pack features a new aerodynamic front clam delivering greater downforce and efficiency, a second set exterior body panels, lightweight titanium brakes, track-focused suspension and a matte black magnesium performance wheel and carbon-fibre aero-disk set. The Track Performance Pack isn’t road legal, mind you.

For those choosing to keep their Valkyrie on the road, there are four Designer Specification themes featuring exclusive colours including Slipstream Green, Liquid Petroleum, Ethanol Silver and Maximum Orange, while owners who want to spec it their way can opt for the Ultimate Personalisation programme, which invites owners to work with the Aston Martin design team to refine their specification, supported by the ‘Q by Aston Martin’ personalisation programme.

Aston Martin also providing customers with the opportunity to view their final creations via virtual reality, to be used in real-time during the specification process at Gaydon. How cool is that?

Quick recap: the Valkyrie is powered by a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 made by Cosworth, mated to a 7-speed sequential gearbox (and RWD only) with a battery electric boost system to fill in the torque at lower revs. It has a carbon fibre tub and weighs no more than 1,100kg with a sub-3.0 second 0-100km/h time and a top speed of well over 300km/h. We can’t wait for the hypercar shootout between the Valkyrie and the Mercedes-AMG One.
