The new Porsche 718 GT4 Clubsport will be available in two versions – the “Trackday” model for amateur racing drivers and “Competition” for national and international motor racing.

The focus of the new GT4 Clubsport is not only on improved driveability and faster lap times but also on the sustainable use of raw materials as it is the first ever production race car to feature body parts made of natural-fibre composite material, sourced primary from agricultural by-products such as flax and hemp fibres.

These materials have been used to make the driver and passenger doors along with the rear wing and is said to feature similar properties to carbon fibre in terms of weight and stiffness.

Its 3.8-litre flat-six engine now makes 40 hp more than its predecessor at 425 hp with 425 Nm of torque as well, where power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 6-speed Porsche dual-clutch gearbox.

The lightweight spring and strut setup at the front is taken from the 911 GT3 Cup car, with 6-pot caliper brakes occupying the front and a 4-pot pair taking charge of the rear.

Inside the baron cockpit of the 1.3-tonne car is a roll cage, Recaro bucket seat with six-point harness, a Cosworth instrument cluster, a multi-functional steering wheel (quick release carbon fibre unit from 911 GT3 R for Competition model) with pit speed limiter and even air conditioning.

The Competition model also gets a larger 115 litre fuel tank (as opposed to 80 litres in the Trackday model), while its shock absorbers can be adjusted in three stages. It’s also fitted with an air jack system for quick pit stops.

The 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trackday costs 134,000 Euros (RM 628k) while the Competition goes for 157,000 Euros (RM 736k).
