BAC Mono is officially the fastest production car on Sepang!

During one of Briggs Automotive Company’s (BAC) outings with its BAC Hong Kong and UK customer at Sepang International Circuit (SIC), the single-seater, road-legal sportscar manage to set a new production car lap record beating the previous record holder, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

Behind the wheel of the record-breaking Mono is Blancpain GT Series Asia driver Shaun Thong who clocked the former F1 circuit in 2:14.617, beating the previous 2:18.997 record by over four seconds. BAC also holds the best production lap times at Zolder, Hungaroring and Anglesey. The lap was officially clocked by SIC timekeepers.

The Mono is powered by a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine pushing 305 hp and 308 Nm of twist sending drive to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission. With a dry weight of just 580 kg, the Mono boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 525 hp per tonne as well as a near perfect 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution.

Co-Founder and Director of Product Development, Neill Briggs said: “BAC and all of our dealers around the world pride themselves on first-class customer engagement and service – and there aren’t many better ways to mark a unique customer event than with a new lap record! A fantastic time had by all and what a brilliant scalp to walk away from Sepang with; we can’t wait to get back on the track with our customers to push for more records!”
