Jaguar F-Type Chequered Flag Edition is a tribute to Jaguar’s 70 years of sports car heritage

It’s been 70 years since Jaguar first unveiled its first sports car, the Jaguar XK 120 in 1948 and to celebrate its rich heritage of Jaguar sports cars, the British carmaker has unveiled the Jaguar F-Type Chequered Flag Special Edition Coupé and Convertible.

Based on the F-Type R-Dynamic Coupe and Convertible, the Chequered Flag special editions are available with either the 300 hp/400 Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine or the 340 hp/450 Nm and 380 hp/460 Nm supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engines. All engines are paired to the eight-speed Quickshift automatic transmission to send drive to the rear wheels while the 380 hp model has the all-wheel-drive system fitted.

Additionally, all F-Type R variants have been given recalibrated dampers for improved ride comfort at low speeds without compromising on cornering ability. The rear upper ball joint, rear knuckle and upper control arm from the F-Type SVR has incorporated for greater robustness.

Distinguishing it from a standard F-Type are the Exterior Black Design Pack, SVO extended side sills, 20-inch Gloss Black wheels with Diamond Turned finish, red brake calipers, Ebony Windsor Leather interior with Red or Cirrus contrast stitching, slimline Performance seats, Chequered Flag logo on the steering wheel with red on-centre marking, Chequered Flag headrest embroider as well as Dark Brushed Aluminium centre console trim.

Director of Design at Jaguar, Ian Callum said: “Perfect proportions, design purity and visual drama – every Jaguar must express these qualities, and none more so than F-TYPE. In creating the Chequered Flag we’ve focused on details which enhance F-TYPE’s presence and promise of performance – and in doing so, made a fitting celebration of 70 years of beautiful, fast, Jaguar sports cars.”
