Subaru WRX STI Diamond Edition is the most powerful WRX STI ever made

To celebrate Subaru Technica International’s (STI) 30th anniversary, Subaru South Africa has revealed the limited Subaru WRX STI Diamond Edition. Only 30 units of these will be made and it will go down in history books as the most powerful WRI STI Ever.

The 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer engine has been boosted to 353 hp and 464 Nm, a 53 hp and 57 Nm bump compared to a standard WRX STI. To achieve this, engineers have given the Diamond Edition an ECU remap and a full free flow exhaust system to unlock the extra grunt from the powertrain.

As a result, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h now takes 5.03 seconds, down 0.73 seconds from a standard vehicle. Acceleration from 0 to 160 km/h is a full second quicker at 13.7 seconds compared to the regular model’s time of 14.76 seconds.

Subaru South Africa did not fiddle with the six-speed manual transmission and Symmetrical All-wheel Drive System, adamant of the standard car’s robustness to handle the extra power. The WRX STI Diamond Edition has undergone 18 months of development and over 50,000 km of testing to ensure the longevity and reliability of the car is not compromised in any way.

On the exterior, the Diamond Edition sgets an STI Sports body kit painted in Hi Viz Yellow, Brembo brake callipers painted in the same Yellow and silver trim around the quad exhaust outlets. It rides on 18-inch Dark Gunmetallic alloy wheel wrapped in 245/40 profile tyres.
