Perodua is Malaysia’s No. 1 EEV carmaker, over 500k EEVs sold

Malaysia’s second national carmaker, Perodua has just achieved a significant milestone today with over half a million Energy-Efficient Vehicles (EEV) certified vehicles produced and sold since 2014. This cements Perodua’s status as the country’s No 1 EEV company.

Perodua launched the nation’s first certified EEV with the Axia in 2014 and subsequently, the first EEV certified sedan with the Bezza two years later. It’s most recent model, the third-generation Myvi is also a certified EEV.

Perodua President and CEO, Datuk (Dr.) Aminar Rashid Salleh said: “I am proud but humbled to announce that since their respective launches, 342,600 Axias, 130,000 Bezzas and over 75,000 new Myvis have found homes in Malaysia to date.”

The 2014 National Automotive Policy (NAP 2014) states that to qualify for EEV status, the vehicle must meet a predetermined fuel consumption figure according to its kerb weight class based on the UNECE R101 standard. All three Perodua models have rated fuel consumption of over 20 km/L (under 5 L/100 km).

“The frugality of our vehicles contributes to very low running costs, as well as being in line with the Government’s aspirations towards a cleaner and greener Malaysia, and the global trend towards more fuel-efficient cars. Most crucially, the vehicles themselves are within reach of most Malaysians,” added Datuk (Dr.) Aminar.
