Lynk & Co is going racing in TCR Series, teases 500 hp concept car

Lynk & Co, the lifestyle automotive brand, showcased its first-ever sedan back in 2017. Now, the Chinese carmaker is venturing into motorsports with Cyan Racing in their Lynk & Co 03 TCR race car.

Lynk & Co together with Cyan Racing will be participating in the 2019 calendar FIA World Touring Car Championship programme, going up against seven global automotive brands – Audi, Alfa Romeo, Honda, Hyundai, Peugeot, SEAT and Volkswagen for the title of FIA World Touring Car Cup.

Vice President of Communications at Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, Victor Yang said: “The fusion between Lynk & Co and Cyan Racing will form the spearhead of our automotive performance debut. The combination of Lynk & Co’s challenge of auto industry conventions and Cyan Racing’s vast motorsport and performance experience are two key elements in this unique cooperation.”

The Lynk & Co 03 TCR will sport a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 350 hp and 420 Nm, linked to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The race car has undergone a strict diet ahead of its racing season, now tipping the scale at 1,265 kg with an FIA approved roll cage, race seats and six-point HANS-compatible harnesses, fire extinguisher system and FIA safety fuel cell installed.

Another announcement from this new partnership is the two companies will be working closely together on a 500 hp high-performance concept car for the road, based on the TCR race car. Dubbed as the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan, the concept car will be the brand’s first step towards offering high-performance vehicles.
