It’s clear that Ford Performance isn’t holding back from blowing its own horns with the Edge ST, an SUV we’ll never see on this side of the planet.

What’s also clear is the immense gap it leaves behind, in a drag race between the Focus ST and 197 hp Fiesta ST along with the fact that it wasn’t pitted against its competitors but instead, was chosen to ridicule its less powerful siblings.

With 358 hp and a whopping 515 Nm of torque from a “most powerful in class” 2.7-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, an 8-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive, it just annihilated the hatchbacks despite all the excess fat.

Locally, if you wanted a Ford SUV that produces that much power, your only option is the oversized and not-as-good-looking Ford Everest that costs more than RM 200,000. Even then, it wouldn’t have the straight line speed of the Edge ST.
