Meet Geely’s B-segment contenders, Geely Bin Rui sedan & SX11 SUV

Geely Auto has just announced their forthcoming products that will make its debut towards the end of 2019, the Bin Rui compact sedan and a compact SUV code-named SX11. Both models will be based on the group’s latest global B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA) platform.

The Bin Rui sedan appeals to the younger consumers through its sporty design, dynamic driving experience and high levels of onboard technology. No other information was revealed but the BMA platform is compatible with existing conventional internal combustion engines and electrified powertrains.

The SX11 SUV will be officially unveiled in Q4 of 2018 and will be competing against the likes of Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V. Geely has confirmed that their new SUV will utilise a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol mill that was co-developed with Volvo Cars – the same engine that is found on the Volvo XC40 T3.

The 1.5TD engine will command 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque, capable of propelling the SX11 from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Geely claims this is faster than many of its rivals including those from luxury brands – in the gallery you can see Geely taking a swipe at the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3.

In a series of teaser images, it would appear that the SX11 will be a shrunken down version of the marques Boyue SUV albeit with a sportier image to appeal to the younger audience. The SX11 and Bin Rui will play a vital role in strengthening Geely’s market position by providing more diverse product offerings to the global market and supporting Geely in meeting their “20200” strategic goal of achieving 2 million in annual sales by 2020.
