At the groundbreaking ceremony of Continental Automotive Components Malaysia’s Penang plant upgrade, the company also introduced a talent development programme called the C.Drive programme targeted at fresh graduates to help them kickstart their career in automotive engineering.
There are two programmes available – C.Drive Engineer and C.Drive Champions, the latter targets software engineers who are keen on pursuing a career in the field of automotive software development. The goal of these programmes is to bridge the gap between academia and the automotive industry needs.
Throughout the programme, recruits will first go through an eight-week fundamental skill set taught course and spend another month applying their knowledge to a capstone project. Upon completion, trainees will then be placed with Continental’s experts and work on actual automotive projects, gaining real-world experience as they go.
Upon completion, the recruits will have an opportunity to secure a position with Continental Automotive, the leading German technology company. Throughout the programme, the recruits will be given a monthly allowance of RM2,800 to RM3,200 as well as EPF, SOCSO contributions and annual leaves.
Only 30 candidates will be selected into the programme but the company is looking to expand the programme to automotive institutes in Malaysia as part of the student’s study pathway to better prepare students for employment and real world challenges.
