Jaguar Land Rover’s plan to reveal an intelligent and connected steering wheel of the future could change the concept of vehicle ownership in the automonous-driving future.
Imagine your car’s key fob being replaced with a smart steering wheel, one that performs tasks for you, much like Siri would on an iPhone and then some. Now, imagine that as the only part of a car you will ever have to own.
This distant but very feasible future is a voice activated artificial intelligence steering wheel is called Sayer; after Malcolm Sayer whose time on Jaguar’s drawing board as one of the most prominent designers spanned between 1951 and 1970.

It will be able to carry out hundreds of tasks and triggers a membership of the on-demand service club whereby offering sole ownership of the car or the option to share with other members of the “community”. This could eliminate the need for car ownership but instead, merely calling upon an autonomous electric vehicle of your choice when and where you need it.
