From ocean to road – the Bentley Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition

“Inspired by luxury yachts, designed by the ocean” is Mulliner by Bentley Motors’ description of their latest creation, the Bentley Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition. Named after the Greek Goddess of calm sea, Galene, the Galene Edition marries the best elements of an oceanic lifestyle with luxury open-top motoring.

The exterior of the Galene Edition is finished in Glacier White to reflect the sparkles of crystal clear waters while the Sequin Blue touches underlines the marine life. A set of 21-inch polished Propeller wheels complete the look of the car.

Inside, the Galene Edition pays homage to the luxuriousness of yacht and Bentley cars, using only the finest hand-crafted materials to create exquisite details. A new material finish – Pinstripe Walnut was commissioned exclusively for the Galene Edition, creating a natural open-pore wood design as seen on luxury yachts.

Other bespoke touches include Linen and Portland hides with camel hand cross stitching for the upholstery, Brunel Alcantara headrest embroidery and Glacier White touches on certain exposed panels. For the true enthusiast, a unique super yacht illustration, hand painted by Jaume Vilardell can be specified on the passenger side dashboard.

Mechanically, the Galene Edition is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 500 hp and 660 Nm of torque. An eight-speed ZF automatic transmission is tasked to transfer power to the rear wheels. Century sprint is completed in 5.0 seconds flat while top speed is clocked at 301 km/h.

Only 30 units of the Bentley Continental GT Convertible Galene Edition will be made. Malaysia was once a lucky recipient of a limited edition Bentley (one of 20 at that), but is there any chance for a well-heeled Malaysian to park this next to his or her luxury yacht?
