Visually, the refreshed Mazda3 gets a new multi bar front grille that resembles the Mazda6 facelift. The front bumper is also reshaped to accommodate the new grille, new headlamp design and fog lamp housing. The entry level GL gets halogen projector headlamps, LED front fog lamps, bulb type tail lamps, rear fog lamps and 16-inch alloys wrapped in 205/60 profile tyres. Stepping up to the high spec variants, both body styles get adaptive LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED combination taillamps and 18-inch alloys wrapped in 215/45 profile tyres.

Like before, the GL gets fabric upholstery, 7-inch touchscreen MZD connect infotainment system with six-speakers, manual air conditioning, electronic parking brake and new three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel design. Stepping up to the high spec variants, it adds leather upholstery, six-way powered driver’s seats, single-zone automatic climate control, sportier instrument cluster design, paddle shifters, cruise control and full coloured heads-up display.

Motivating the Mazda3 is the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated SkyActiv-G petrol engine that develops 162 hp and 210 Nm of torque. Power is channelled to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. With the update, the transmission now comes with Sports mode that can be activated via a rocker switch near the gear leaver.

G-Vectoring Control (GVC) is Mazda’s way of elevating the Jinba-Ittai philosophy. During a corner, the system works by adjusting power delivery and shifting vehicle weight according to the driver’s steering input. This improves handling and ride comfort around the corners and in a straight line.

As standard, all three variants come with six-airbags, ABS with BA, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Emergency Stop Signal and ISOFIX mounting points. The high spec variants come with additional Lane Departure Warning System, Smart City Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Bermaz Motors is offering the Mazda3 in four colours – Artic White, Blue Reflex, Meteor Grey and Aluminium Metallic. Every purchase of a new Mazda vehicle registered from 1 February 2017 will get a 5-Years or 100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and a 3-Years or 60,000 km free maintenance package.
