Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid unveiled, gets 670 hp & 850 Nm!

New to the second-generation Panamera lineup is an electrifying variant called the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid! Available as standard or extended wheelbase (Panamera Executive), the fastest sprinting Panamera will make its world premiere at Geneva in just a matter of days.

Porsche is no amateur when it comes to high performance hybrid vehicles (the 918 Spyder Hypercar can attest to that). By applying the same formula, the engineers at Stuttgart have slapped on an electric motor onto a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8, resulting in a hybrid system that delivers a combined output of 670 hp and 850 Nm of torque.

Transmission of choice is the fast shifting eight-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox which sends power to all four-wheels. Thanks to the electric motor, full torque is available just above idle. This lets the plug-in hybrid Panamera to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds before maxing out at 310 km/h. Amazingly, fuel economy is rated at 2.9 litres per 100km.

When plugged to a 10 amp 230V output, the 14.1 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack can be fully charged within six-hours. Opt for the optional 32 amp 230V connection charger and it will charge to a full in just 2.4 hours. At full capacity, the battery can supply about 50km in full electric mode!

As expected from a range topping model, this car gets a host of equipment as standard. Standard issue here include Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), Air Suspension, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Power Steering Plus and 21-inch 911 Turbo Design alloy wheels.

Porsche Malaysia (Sime Darby Auto Performance or SDAP) will be introducing the 2017 Porsche Panamera to our market very soon. It’s hard to say whether this high performance hybrid variant will make its way here, but even if it does, expect to pay a fine price for one.
