It’s been exactly one year since Bell & Ross began their partnership journey with Renault Sport Formula One. To commemorate the occasion, the French-design Swiss-made watchmaker previewed the new BR03-94 RS17, which will actually be part of a trilogy launching at BaselWorld this year.
Design is evidently inspired by the Renault Sport Formula One car. It’s encased in a 42mm matte black ceramic frame capable of withstanding shock and constant vibration in the world of motor racing. The dial receives a sporty carbon fibre finish that’s embellished with metal applique Superluminova®-filled numerals.
The face is protected by sapphire crystal coated in layers of anti-reflective coating. Chronograph info features yellow anodised aluminium, which is the same iconic colour used by Renault since they first debuted in Formula One. It’s water resistant up to 100 metres and comes with oven-black rubber mixed with ultra-resilient black synthetic fabric.
The prestigious world of motor sport shares many similarities with aviation, which happens to be Bell & Ross’ first love. In both fields, engineers seek extreme performance, speed and mechanical accuracy. Production of the BR03-94 RS17 is limited to just 500 units, and will be unveiled alongside two other commemorative specials.
