2017 Jeep Compass unveiled, to rival the BMW X1, Audi Q3

The next-generation Jeep Compass is set to make its debut at the LA Motor Show next month. To commemorate the occasion, Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) released these pictures barring none of the SUV’s new looks. Production of the new Jeep will take place at the Jeep Assembly Plant in Brazil.

Not much details on the car have been announced so far, but Jeep confirmed that they will be offering as many as 17 powertrain options for the new Compass. The Compass will incorporate the best-in-class 4×4 off-road capability without sacrificing fuel economy. Apart from improved road dynamics, this new SUV will be equipped with the finest safety and advanced technology offerings from FCA.

Aesthetically, the Compass shares some obvious design cues the latest Grand Cherokee. It’s also more muscular than the model it replaces. The Jeep Compass is set to be sold in over 100 countries around the world, with deliveries beginning in early 2017 for the North American market. It will compete against the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

The Jeep brand was just recently revived in Malaysia after DRB-Hicom signed the distribution rights. The outgoing Compass is powered by a 2.4-litre four cylinder engine that develops 170 hp and 220 Nm of torque, and is to a six-speed automatic that drives all four wheels. It’s also Jeep’s most affordable model in Malaysia with an asking price of RM248,889.
