Some of us have waited long for the slightest piece of update on the all-new Audi A4 B9. Well, we needn’t wait any longer, for the bomb has begun ticking.
No official specifications have been revealed, but judging from the picture, a 2.0-litre quattro variant will be among the mix, which we assume will be of the more powerful tune (252 hp and 370 Nm of torque). The current A4 B8’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine produces 210 hp and 350 Nm. A seven-speed S Tronic transmission is standard issue here.
Those who have paid close scrutiny to the A4 B9 will know Audi is offering a smaller 1.4 TFSI engine that makes 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Should this be introduced, it will go right up against its rivals BMW 318i and the Mercedes C180. The Bavarian saloon puts out 136 hp and 220 Nm of torque, whereas the Mercedes-Benz C180 belts 156 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The only deterrent here is pricing it competitively, which is a problem for Audi Malaysia because all Audi models are fully imported.
The Audi A4 B9 will be launched very soon, but the bigger question is, will the A4 Avant and the hotter S4 be introduced here as well?
