Renault Clio gets a midlife refresh and it looks like a champ!

The fourth-generation Renault Clio, available here in the sole GT trim, has just undergone a facelift. This timely update brings about a new look (inline with Renault’s new corporate identity), and along with it a new diesel engine.

As with all model facelifts, updates to the Clio include a redesigned set of LED headlights and tail lamps, reprofiled front and rear bumpers and a wider front grille that ups road presence. Inside, Renault claims they used higher quality materials such as chrome and soft-touch plastics.

Meanwhile, the centre console now available in three choices: Media Nav Evolution, R-Link Evolution, and R&GO. Even the entry level head unit comes with a feature that allows you to pair and mirror your smartphone via an app. Depending on the trim, a Bose audio system can also be had in this little French hatch. Safety wise, the Clio gets all-round parking sensors and autonomous parking, but the latter is offered only to pricier variants.

While most of the Clio’s existing engine will be carried over, Renault now introduces the 108 hp 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine into the mix. The oil burner, which is shared with the Megane and Dacia models, is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Also offered is a 118 hp 1.2-litre TCe petrol engine which is also paired to the aforementioned stick shift. In case you may be wondering, that’s the same engine powering the Captur and Clio GT models here in Malaysia.20160613-2016-renault-clio-facelift-4

The updated Clio will go on sale in Europe beginning October this year. Presently, Renault Malaysia is selling the fully imported Clio GT (six-speed dual clutch automatic) at RM118,000.00.
