Special Protonic Red BMW i8 to debut in Geneva

BMW is set to unveil a new special edition of the BMW i8 with shades of red at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. This i8, dubbed as the i8 Protonic Red Edition, is probably launched just in time in conjunction with the the ongoing Lunar New Year celebrations.

Not to be confused with Proton’s “ProTronic” transmission found in the Preve and Suprima S models, the i8 Protonic Red Edition is equipped with the same 20-inch W-spoke wheels that compliment its new red bodywork that’s finished off with some Frozen Grey metallic trim. The cabin gets red double-stitching and additional carbon fibre and ceramic trim.bmw-i8-protonic-5

The i8 is pretty much a masterpiece by BMW’s finest engineers, hence nothing is changed on the mechanical side of things. But just for a refresher, it’s powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine and an electric motor that produces a healthy of 362 hp and 570 Nm of torque. Together with the six-speed automatic transmission, it sprints from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds!

The i8 Protonic Red Edition, priced at around £112,535 (approx.  RM678,00+), will begin production in July, with deliveries commencing in September.
