Decorated Lamborghini CEO leaves to join Audi quattro GmbH

In what’s supposed to be a round of musical chairs in the automotive industry, Lamborghini’s charismatic president and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, will be joining Audi’s quattro GmbH division. Replacing the vacated spot in Lamborghini is a true blue Italian by the name of Stefano Domenicali, former chief of Ferrari F1 team.

Domenicali led the Ferrari F1 team from 2008 to 2014 and once held a post in Audi in late 2014. He was also a sporting director for the team in 1998, where two years later Michael Schumacher began the Prancing Horse’s domination in the pinnacle of motorsports.

Winkelmann and of course, our very own GC Mah

Winkelmann has been with Automobili Lamborghini since 2005, and since then we’ve seen him launch the Huracan, Avendator and the Urus SUV. At the same time, he was spotted in Kuala Lumpur during the Super Trofeo round in Malaysia. Who knows, his role in Audi may just spawn more high-performing models to be offered alongside the R8. Hey, we can all dream, right?

Our best wishes go out to both Winkelmann and Domenicali on their new career paths!
