Peugeot 508 facelift pricing announced, from RM174k to RM202k

Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Peugeot cars in Malaysia have announced the official pricing for the facelifted 508 Sedan, SW and GT variants. With GST and insurance included, the net selling prices are RM173,888, RM183,888 and RM201,888 respectively.

During the launch in May, the company threw us their estimates of RM175k to RM205k. That didn’t veer off too much, nor did it go above the unofficial asking price, which is good news if you ask us. As for the pricing itself, that’s open for debate.

To quickly recap, the French D-Segment contender gets a fresh new front fascia with all its forward lighting sources powered by LEDs. The same 1.6-litre Turbo High Pressure (THP) and 2.2-litre turbodiesel engines are retained, but both have been slightly tuned for better performance and fuel economy.

Also revised is the six-speed Aisin-sourced automatic torque converter driving the front wheels. The petrol unit makes 163 hp at 5,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque from 1,450 to 4,250 rpm, whereas the oil burning lump makes 202 hp at 3,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 2,750 revolutions. Performance figures wise, the 1.6L engine sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds while the 2.2L diesel gets there in 8.4 seconds. Top speed is 220 km/h and 235 km/h respectively.

On the safety front, the 508 gets six airbags, two Isofix fixtures for the rear seats, new ‘curved’ head restraints, collapsible front structure to better absorb energy transfer in the event of an accident and Blind Spot Sensor System (BLISS). There’s also ESP, traction control, Dynamic Stability Control, Emergency Braking Assist, ABS with EBD, smart cruise control with speed limiter as well as front and rear parking sensors.
