Definitely one of the most anticipated cars, the 2015 Ford Mustang has been revealed, officially. This all-new sixth generation Mustang is built from ground up, every single part is brand new.
It has had a makeover both inside and outside; it has a fresh new look with the squinting eyes and becomes a little eco-friendly.
Like all the other Mustangs made in the last 50 years, Ford is exceptionally proud of this new pony as it has the innovative technologies and world class performance. It is said to be the most nimble Mustang ever, and has apparently been benchmarked against the M3 and even the 911.
More importantly, this 6th-gen Mustang is the first in the car’s 50 year-old history to be available for sale globally. Some say it may reach Malaysian shores as early as 2015. (How exciting!)
Engines. Ford will be offering three choices for its engine options, the ever powerful 5.0-liter V8, a 3.7-liter V6 and an all-new fuel-efficient 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. The gas guzzling 5.0-liter V8 produces 435 horsepower and 542 Nm of torque, and for better fuel economy and emissions, a new intake manifold is designed to improve low-speed breathing.
However if Malaysia road tax and fuel prices may dry up your wallet with the growling 5,000cc, you can opt for the standard 3.7-liter V8 which produces 300 horsepower with 366 Nm of torque. We foresee the third variant will sell best as many would want a muscle car and save mother earth and their wallets at the same time, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.
It uses direct injection, variable cam timing and turbocharging as a result, it can achieve impressive fuel efficiency and never short change you on power. This mere 2,300cc engine churns out 310 horsepower and 434 Nm of torque. That’s right.
Design. The first thing you would notice is the squinting eyes and the wider signature ‘shark-bite’ grille, which sort of blends both modern and aggressive looks together. From the rear, the three stripes LED tail lights are unmistakably Mustang. This new car is lower and wider by 40mm, the roof is 38mm lower, the bonnet 32mm lower and the boot deck 70mm lower. A-Pillar has shifted backwards by 30mm and its wider front and rear tracks improve stability significantly.
As mentioned earlier, this is the most nimble Mustang ever. This is probably due to the modified chasis and also Ford has replaced the old live rear axle with a more sophisticated fully independent multi-link suspension. Â This could be the game changer.
As for the interior, Ford put in a lot of effort in designing the best interior for the new Mustang. The objective is to create a jet fighter cockpit with authentic premium materials. The interior does look luxurious without losing the muscle car atmosphere. Big round gauges, real aluminium, leather, plated chrome, big round gear knob, etc. Turned on yet?
