When introducing limited edition models, some manufacturers plaster their cars with stickers, shiny wheels, slap on a “one of” badge and call it a day. That’s hardly any different than taking a regular car to an aftermarket expert eh?
MINI Malaysia understands the significance of the term “Limited Edition” and isn’t about to smear its significance with some 3M stickers – and as such, is appealing to the sophisticated ladies and the fine gentlemen with the 20-unit limited edition MINI Clubman Sterling Edition.
In an unprecedented move, keen buyers can only place a booking for the car online at MINI’s dedicated website. The flash sale will go live from 15 August till 26 August 2017. To secure a booking, potential buyers will have to put down a RM2,000 deposit with an indicative price tag of RM268,888.
So, what do you get for a RM15k premium over a regular Cooper S Clubman? For starters, it is only available in Melting Silver that’s contrasted with the Black Union Jack roof, mirror caps and side scuttles. It rides on bespoke 18-inch MINI Yours Masterpiece alloy wheels, also finished in black.
Inside, aside from all the standard options of a Cooper S Clubman, the Sterling Edition adds on with Indigo Blue and Pure Burgundy leather upholstery, “Walknappa” leather steering wheel and MINI Yours illuminated interior.
Mechanically, it is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, making 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The century sprint is completed in 7.1 seconds before the Clubman maxes out at 228km/h. Power is sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed Aisin-sourced automatic transmission.
