Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash safety rating!

Hyundai Sime Darby Malaysia (HSDM) has just introduced the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid in Malaysia as a locally-assembled unit. Thanks to tax break incentives, HSDM has manage to secure a very attractive price tag of RM114k for the range topping variant that comes with a host of autonomous safety features.

Well, more good news then, because Euro NCAP has just awarded the Hyundai Ioniq with a maximum 5-Star crash safety rating. The Ioniq achieved top marks in the Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian and Safety Assist, making it one of the safest vehicles in its segment. If you have to ask, the crash model is identically specced as our RM114k Ioniq HEV Plus!2016 Hyundai Ioniq 1.6L Hybrid Launch in Malaysia - AutoBuzz.my

To recap, the Malaysian spec Hyundai Ioniq comes with seven airbags, ESC, VSM, ABS with EBD, BA, hill-start assist and ISOFIX mounting points as standard. However, only the more expensive model gets the full range of autonomous safety features such as Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEB), Lane Keeping Assist System(LKAS), Lane Departure Warning System and Blind Spot Detection.

SCC allows the driver to keep a constant distance with the vehicle ahead while AEB works in three stages – first alerting the driver visually and acoustically of an imminent collision, controls braking force according to the collision state and finally applies maximum braking force just before the moment of collision. AEB is operable at speeds of 10km/h and above.2016 Hyundai Ioniq 1.6L Hybrid Launch in Malaysia - AutoBuzz.my
