Earlier this month, it was revealed that Thailand will become the first country in this region to receive the fifth-generation Honda CR-V. Just recently, Honda Thailand released details of the popular SUV, and it sure seems to be a game changer for Honda!
The biggest news this time is the CR-V will be a seven-seater, something the SUV was never offered with before. This puts the CR-V against bigger SUVs like the Nissan X-Trail and Kia Sorento.
Also highlighted is the confirmation of the i-DTEC turbodiesel engine. As previously hinted, a 1.6-litre DTEC mill producing 160 hp at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm. This is paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission, sending drive to either the front or all four wheels.
It’s not the first time a diesel engine is offered with the CR-V, though, because the same 1.6-litre diesel in the outgoing model was sold in the UK.
The 2017 Honda CR-V will be assembled at Honda’s Ayutthaya plant in Thailand, before going on sale later this month. This means its Malaysian debut will not be too far ahead!
