Chery Corporate Malaysia (Chery Malaysia) announced a milestone in its Malaysian expansion with the topping-out of Phase One of its Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin.
The ceremony marks the structural completion of the RM2.2 billion assembly plant. Spanning 200 acres, the facility is set to become the carmaker’s largest in Malaysia, with full operations expected to commence next year to support Chery’s expanding local sub-brands, which include Omoda Jaecoo, iCaur and the upcoming Lepas brand.
Located along Selangor’s automotive corridor, construction began shortly after its groundbreaking in 2025. The facility anchors a broader state vision, as the Selangor State Government plans to develop a dedicated automotive valley across Serendah and Lembah Beringin, clustering carmakers, component suppliers, and research institutions.
The plant is expected to deliver economic benefits through job creation, skills development, and expanded opportunities for local partners, strengthening Malaysia’s position in the regional automotive value chain.
Menteri Besar of Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari said, “This new chapter for Lembah Beringin, with Chery Malaysia as one of its anchors, can spur the town forward by rapidly developing new supply chains, reducing business operation and travel times, and ultimately creating better-quality jobs for Selangorians.”

Inside, the Chery Tiggo 9 is configured as a three-row seven-seater in a 2+3+2 configuration. The second row seats are manually adjustable for access to the third row. Some of the comfort amenities of the second row seats include heating and ventilation functions, along with retractable sunshades, with dedicated aircon vents for the third row.
The Chery Tiggo 9 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 256 hp and 390 Nm. This is sent to an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), enabling 0-100 km/h in 9.3 seconds.
