Pro-Net, the new energy vehicle subsidiary of Proton and the sole distributor of Smart vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the all-new electric Smart #5 in Malaysia. Two fully-imported (CBU) variants are available, priced from RM199,800 on-the-road, without insurance. Pro-Net stated that these prices are applicable for the first 300 registered units.

Coming in at 4,705 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,705 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, the Smart #5 is the largest model to date from the marque and is built on the SEA3/PMA2+ architecture shared with the Zeekr 7X.
Designed by Mercedes-Benz Group Design, headed by Gorden Wagener, the Smart #5 exterior mirrors the boxy profile of the Mercedes-Benz GLB to give the SUV a more utilitarian and rugged look compared to the Smart #1 and Smart #3.

Unlike the minimalist interiors of the #1 and #3, the Smart #5 boasts a futuristic spaceship-like cabin. It is dominated by twin 13-inch AMOLED displays that stretch across the dashboard, powered by an AMD V2000 chipset. Storage solutions, including a 72 litre frunk and a 603 litre rear boot. This rear boot is expandable to 1,530 litres with the rear seats folded down and features a hidden 110 litre compartment.

Powering the Smart #5 is a rear-mounted electric motor that makes 363 hp (267 kW) and 373 Nm, which enables a 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h. This is juiced by a 100 kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) ternary battery with 800V architecture, enabling a range of 590 km (WLTP).
The Smart #5 Brabus variant gains an electric motor on the front axle for an all-wheel drive setup, which produces a combined 646 hp (475 kW) and 710 Nm for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds and a slightly higher top speed of 210 km/h. It is equipped with sports suspension and the same 100 kWh NMC battery from the Premium variant, but its range has dropped to 540 km (WLTP).
Both Smart #5 variants support charging at 22 kW AC and 450 kW DC charging support, taking 4.5 hours and 15 minutes to charge from 10-80% respectively.
For safety systems, both variants are equipped with a suite of ADAS features that is powered by five radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and dual Nvidia Drive OrinX chips, which enable features like:
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with traffic jam assist (TJA) and traffic sign recognition (TSR)
- Automatic lane change assist (LCA)
- Lane keep assist (LKA)
- Lane departure warning (LDW)
- Emergency lane keep assist (ELKA)
- Autonomous front and rear emergency braking (AEB)

The Smart #5 Premium variant is available in four colours with Eclipse Black accents. These are Meta Black, Cyber Silver, Pulsar Ruby, and Saturn Beige. On the other hand, the Smart #5 Brabus gets three paint jobs with the same Eclipse Black accents. These are Atom Grey Matte, Meta Black, and Digital White.
Two variants of the Smart #5 are available in Malaysia: the Smart #5 Premium, priced at RM199,800, and the Smart #5 Brabus, priced at RM249,800. These prices are valid for the first 300 units sold in Malaysia. Included in the price is an eight-year or 200,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, an eight-year or 150,000 km high-voltage component warranty, a four-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, and 24/7 roadside service assistance.
