MG Motor Malaysia has announced the availability of new special edition models for the MG5 and the MG4 EV in Malaysia.
The first is the MG5 X Edition, which introduces several styling accessories such as the gloss-black body kit inclusive of a boot lip spoiler, X Edition scuff plates, alongside a dashcam with a 64GB SD card. This special edition sedan will be limited to 300 units and is priced at RM96,388, on-the-road, excluding insurance. All additions accessories are covered by a one-year warranty.
To commemorate MG Motor’s 101st anniversary, MG Malaysia is also introducing the MG4 101 Edition, priced at RM128,888. This special edition features a Union Jack roof design, complemented by “One of one” exterior decals on the sides. It is exclusively available on the Lux Extended variant with a choice of Dynamic Red or Holborn Blue exterior hues, paired to a dual-tone interior.
Aside from these additional styling kit, the rest of the models remain completely unchanged, including their powertrains. The MG5 X Edition continues to be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder making 114 hp and 150 Nm, paired to a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the MG4 101 Edition, based on the Lux Extended variant, is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor, producing 245 hp (180 kW) and 350 Nm. It has a range of 520 km (WLTP) from its 77 kWh NMC battery pack. Charging is supported at 11 kW or DC charging at 150 kW. This enables a 10-80% recharge in 38 minutes.
Aside from the introduction of the MG5 X Edition and MG4 101 Edition, SAIC Motor Malaysia has also recently announced several price adjustments across its model lineup, including the fully electric MG5 EV, now priced from RM107,900 to RM127,900 across three variants, and the MG4 EV, which is now offered in only three variants, and priced between RM100,888 and RM138,888 – up to RM28k lower than before.
