Perodua and Maybank Islamic launch Malaysia’s first Shariah-compliant agility financing

Perodua and Maybank Islamic Berhad have collaborated to launch “Perodua Flexiplan”, described as Malaysia’s first Shariah-compliant agility financing plan, powered by Maybank Islamic’s myimpact Drive Financing-i.

This financial initiative, a first for both Perodua and Maybank, aims to provide a highly competitive Murabahah Vehicle Term Financing-i solution for more affordable monthly repayments over an initial five-year loan tenure.

At the end of the five-year tenure, customers are presented with three options, the first of which is to trade in their car for a new Perodua. Under this option, Perodua will buy back the customer’s vehicle at a pre-agreed residual value. This amount can then be used to directly offset the down payment required for a brand-new Perodua, allowing the customer to conveniently start a refreshed five-year loan tenure.

Alternatively, customers can choose to retain their current vehicle by either settling the outstanding balance or extending the loan tenure for up to four additional years under a revised repayment scheme.

Eligible Perodua models for this financial incentive are the Perodua Myvi, Ativa, Aruz, and the Axia, although the base Axia E variant is excluded.

The companies state that the new offering will further enhance the range of Shariah-compliant solutions for Perodua owners. These solutions include the Perodua Total Protect Plus comprehensive takaful plan underwritten by Etiqa, which comes with an additional RM5,000 Special Peril coverage, as well as Credit Reducing Term Takaful as an added layer of protection for customers.

Maybank, Group CEO, Community and Financial Services, Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar, said, “Across the Maybank Group, we have always been committed to empowering our customers with flexible, transparent, inclusive, and sustainable financial solutions, and Maybank Islamic myimpact Drive Financing-i is a reflection to our values-based approach to banking,”

“We are proud and excited to provide this innovative approach to all Malaysians alongside Perodua – one that addresses the preferences of modern car buyers and empowering our customers with flexible ownership choices,” he added.
