Mercedes-Benz rolls up their sleeves with 30 new cars planned over the next 2 years

Mercedes-Benz might not be enjoying its best sales in recent years, but it’s still charging full steam ahead with what it calls “the biggest product launch programme in the history of Mercedes-Benz.” First announced earlier this year, the German carmaker has now provided more information on its plans for the next two years.

As seen in an official document prepared for investors, Mercedes-Benz will be launching a total of 30 new cars within the next two years. The onslaught kicked off with the all-new CLA and its recently-revealed estate variant earlier this year. You’d notice that both variants appear twice on the list, as the company lists EVs and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants separately – so it won’t exactly be 30 new models per se, but it’s still a whole lot of cars.

Starting with the entry-level segment, Mercedes-Benz will be unveiling two EV and ICE models across the two years (three in 2026, and one in 2027). These models are most likely the all-new GLA and GLB, both in petrol and electric variants, given that the A-Class (and potentially B-Class) has been reportedly axed after the current generation runs out.

At the core segment, the new models will include four ICE models and three EVs starting 2026. The core segment includes cars such as the GLC, C-Class, and E-Class, and leading the charge will be the upcoming fully electric Mercedes-Benz GLC, due in September this year. An ICE variant is expected to follow suit later down the line.

At the “top-end”, we see a total of 19 models planned for launch (nine in 2026, and 10 in 2027). While the full lineup remains unconfirmed, we do know that a large update is coming to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and EQS models. Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius said they’ve “invested a lot more in the model update of the new combustion engine S-Class than we normally spend on a facelift.”

This may be a response to the company’s EQ lineup’s declining performance, with sales down 23% during a period when the global EV market grew by 25%.

Mercedes-AMG is also set to release its first bespoke EV, as previewed by the Concept AMG GT XX. The production model will reportedly debut as a high-performance super sedan, with an SUV variant built on the same platform to follow — both expected to be unveiled by 2027.

There’s one thing left, which we’re not quite sure where it fits into the picture here, and it’s the “Little G” as confirmed by Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius in 2023. For now, our speculation is that it may be the standalone model launching in 2027 at the entry-level segment, positioned to compete against the Suzuki Jimny.

Along with this extensive launch programme, Mercedes-Benz has also revealed plans to unify the design language across its ICE and EV models — acknowledging that the quirky pebble-like designs of the EQ lineup are no longer going to bring the numbers up.
