2025 Mitsubishi Triton Athlete updated with improved kit – now RM6k cheaper, from RM160k

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), fresh from celebrating its 20th anniversary in Malaysia, has introduced an enhanced Mitsubishi Triton Athlete featuring new exterior equipment. The new 2025 Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is priced from RM159,980 on-the-road, without insurance, making it RM6,000 cheaper than the outgoing Triton Athlete.

Externally, the enhanced Mitsubishi Triton Athlete gains a refreshed front bumper garnish, now also finished in silver, having previously been body-coloured. It also gets a new sports bar above the cargo bed, decorative decals on its sides, and a tailgate assist.

These additions complement all the existing external trimmings found on the top-range Mitsubishi Triton in Malaysia, which include gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels, a tailgate spoiler, gloss-black wing mirrors, door handles, fender extensions, and dark-titanium side steps.

No changes were made to the new Mitsubishi Triton Athlete’s interior. You’ll still find a black-orange leatherette and suede-knit upholstery, wireless phone charger, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

These are complemented by an eight-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a driver’s seven-inch multicolour display for the analogue gauge cluster.

Powering the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel that produces 204 hp and 470 Nm of torque. This is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to its drivetrain via the Super Select II 4WD system, which offers seven drive modes.

A feature unique to the Athlete variant is the inclusion of an electric power steering system and a new Active Yaw Control system that enhances the pickup truck’s agility, especially on slippery and loose surfaces.

For safety features, the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is equipped with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). These include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot warning, lane departure warning and lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert, and automatic high beam.

As part of MMM’s 20th anniversary celebrations, the company is offering exclusive promotions for the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete for a limited time. These include five years of free maintenance and a five-year warranty package with unlimited mileage, plus other rewards worth up to RM8,000.

Customers can also enjoy low interest rates starting from 0.6% when financing the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete through Maybank or Public Bank.

Additionally, MMM is launching a Scratch & Win contest from June 16, 2025. Customers who book a new Mitsubishi Triton or Mitsubishi Xpander at any MMM authorised dealership will be eligible to participate. Upon registration and car collection from an MMM authorised dealer, customers will receive a Scratch & Win card and stand to win prizes including an iPhone 16, iPad, iPods, a Seiko Watch, and THULE products.
