Vietnam’s Vinfast has just launched its pint-sized EV, the Vinfast VF3, in Indonesia. And when we say pint-sized, we mean it – this thing is really small, measuring a mere 3,114 mm long, making it even shorter than a Perodua Axia!
A single variant of the Vinfast VF3 is available in the archipelago and is priced at IDR 227.65 million (approx. RM65k).
The Vinfast VF3 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 40 hp and 110 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 100 km/h and takes 19 seconds to get there. Going from a standstill to 50 km/h is quicker at 5.3 seconds, making it primarily a city-focused EV – despite its blocky offroader design. A modest 18.6 kWh battery pack provides a NEDC-rated range of 215 km.
Charging the VF3 from 10% to 70% using a DC fast charger takes 36 minutes, though Vinfast has not disclosed the actual charging capacity. As a bonus, Vinfast VF3 owners in Indonesia will also have access free charging across the archipelago until March 1, 2028, thanks to V-GREEN, an EV charging network company owned by Vinfast’s founder.
Inside, the Vinfast VF3 keeps things simple but functional. One standout feature is a 10-inch infotainment screen with a built-in web browser and a “camp mode,” though Vinfast hasn’t elaborated on what the latter entails.
Vinfast claims the VF3 has a boot space of 285 litres with the rear seats folded. The roof can support 50 kg of cargo, and the car comfortably fits four passengers.
