W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class teased for Malaysia, launching soon?

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has teased the upcoming launch of the W214-generation E-Class, showcasing the vehicle’s front fascia in a recent teaser. The all-new model, unveiled globally last April, is expected to make its Malaysian debut soon.

Globally it is offered with a diverse range of powertrain options. The lineup includes three mild hybrid (MHEV) variants: the E220 d, E220 d 4MATIC, and E200. Three plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models are available: the E300 e, E300 e 4MATIC, and E400 e 4MATIC.

Looking at our market of the current generation (W213) E-Class, it is expected to initially offer the 4-cylinder petrol-powered E200 variant, equipped with 204 hp and 320 Nm. A potential future addition to the E-Class lineup is the plug-in hybrid E300 e, combining a 204 hp internal combustion engine with a 129 hp electric motor for a combined system output of 308 hp and 550 Nm.

The latest W214 E-Class PHEV models offer an increased electric range of up to 115 km, thanks to a larger 25.4 kWh battery. This represents a significant improvement over the previous generation W213 E350 e, which had a range of 33 km with a smaller 6.2 kWh battery.

The E-Class showcases a distinctive front design that blends elements from both internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric vehicles (EVs). A prominent black panel connects the headlights and houses a 3D grille that can be customized with a progressive or classic look. An optional illuminated grille adds a touch of sophistication.

The interior of the W214 E-Class is centered around the innovative Superscreen, an advanced display system that integrates a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. The optional front passenger display offers additional functionality without compromising driver safety through an intelligent blocking feature.

The W214 E-Class incorporates a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and driver attention monitoring with enhanced alerts. Additionally, the vehicle offers a parking package with a rearview camera and speed limit recognition.
