Alongside the new base Eletre, Lotus Cars Malaysia is also introducing the Emeya here on our shores today, with the fully electric grand tourer now available for booking at a fee of RM5,000. Three variants are on offer, namely the base Emeya, Emeya S, and Emeya R, with prices starting from RM575,000 on-the-road and without insurance – putting it right in line to compete against the Porsche Taycan.
Deliveries for the Lotus Emeya are expected to begin in November 2024, although prospective customers can get up close with the electric “Hyper-GT” at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from 30 July to 4 August. Private viewing sessions will be held daily from 10 am to 10 pm, and you can reserve your spot at this link.
Essentially a lower-slung version of the Eletre, the Lotus Emeya’s performance specifications also mirror the SUV’s three variants, with the two lower-end models offering 612 hp (450 kW) and 710 Nm from a dual-motor AWD setup; and the range-topping Emeya R getting 918 hp (605 kW) and 985 Nm courtesy of the motor powerful motors and a two-speed transmission.
In performance terms, that’s a century sprint time of 4.2 seconds (Emeya, Emeya S) and 2.8 seconds (Emeya R) respectively. The Emeya R also gets a slightly boosted top speed of 256 km/h compared to 250 km/h on the other two, but you probably won’t notice the difference when you’re already going that fast.

All three variants are powered by the same 102 kWh battery pack, which translates to a 610 km (WLTP) range on the base Emeya, 540 km on the Emeya S, and 435 km on the Emeya R. The Lotus Emeya is capable of 350 kW fast DC charging thanks to its 800V architecture, taking just 18 minutes to recharge from 10-80%, or 5.5 hours for a full charge using a 22 kW AC wall box.
The difference in range is mostly down to the bigger (21 inch vs 20) standard wheels and tyres on the S and R variants; all variants are still equipped with the same fancy active aerodynamic devices to keep the car’s drag coefficient down as low as 0.21 Cd. The S and R also get bigger brakes as standard, with even bigger and more powerful carbon-ceramic items available as options too.
Dual chamber air suspension comes as standard across the range, too, although the R has its own tune in line with its performance focus. Inside, most of the Lotus Emeya’s functions are controlled through a 15.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display mounted in the centre, while the drivers get a large “55-inch” head-up display in addition to the letterbox-style screen in the dashboard.
An expansive suite of advanced driver assistance feature is also offered on the Lotus Emeya, powered by two Nvidia Drive processors to process data from 34 state-of-the-art surround sensors, including four deployable LiDARs and 12 cameras. The safety system will also be incrementally improved with over-the-air updates.
