The long-awaited 2024 Volkswagen Golf R (CKD) has been launched in Malaysia today with a price tag of RM332,990. About RM20,000 more affordable than its fully imported (CBU) version, the CKD Golf R has been open for booking since August 2023.
The CKD Volkswagen Golf R introduces several upgrades in comparison to its CBU version, sporting the R Performance Pack that now comes as standard. The performance pack consists of the Akrapovic exhaust system, an elaborate roof spoiler, new lightweight 19-inch ‘Estoril’ wheels, and the ‘Drift’ and ‘Special’ driving modes.

Its power plant remains the same EA888 evo4 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged inline-four engine, which continues to make 320 hp and 400 Nm. Paired with the seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and the marque’s 4Motion all-wheel drive (AWD) system, the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R sprints from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, onwards to a top speed of 250 km/h.

As for safety, the CKD Volkswagen Golf R comes equipped with the new IQ.Drive advanced driver assistance systems. This includes items like Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist.
Otherwise, the locally-assembled 2024 Volkswagen Golf R is identical to CBU counterpart, with highlights including the model-exclusive exterior body kit consisting of a more aggressive front bumper, a prominent diffuser round the back, signature satin-silver wing mirror covers, and blue-coloured R-styled brake calipers.
